Absentee Ballots are available before every election for registered voters who will be unable to cast their vote at the polls. Voters may vote by absentee ballot only if they are unable to vote at the polls on election day due to absence from town during the hours the polls are open, because of physical disability or because of religious belief. The absentee voting takes place prior to each election until noon the day before each election at the office of the Town Clerk.
You must apply for an absentee ballot to the Town Clerk before noon the day before each election. You may use the official application form or any form of written communication.
Include on your application your name as registered and your registration address. Also include the precise address to which you wish the ballot sent and be sure to sign your application.
Illegal absentee voting, including making a false application, is punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and up to five years in prison.
