2017 Construction Projects

The following projects are currently anticipated for the 2017 construction season. Please check back later this winter as our project schedules become more clear.  For further information, please contact John Thompson in the Engineering Department at 617-898-4900.

Chapter 90 Roadway Program

The following streets are scheduled to be paved in 2017:

  • School Street
  • Canton Avenue – Brook Road to School Street
  • Edgehill Road – Pleasant Street to Westvale Road

Work is expected to begin in May and continue into the summer and fall of 2017.

Churchills Lane & Bradlee Road Drainage and Roadway Reconstruction Project

The Engineering Department is currently receiving sealed bids for this project, which includes roadway and drainage reconstruction on Churchills Lane (between Adams Street and Brook Road) and Bradlee Road. The Engineering Department will open bids and award this project at the end of March 2017 for construction to begin later this Spring.

Water Main Replacement Project

Water mains will be renewed or replaced on the following roads:

  • Adams Street - Granite Avenue to the City of Quincy boundary
  • Washington Street
  • Rockwell Avenue

Work includes replacing water mains and water services from the main to the property line at all residences. Work is expected to begin on Washington Street and Rockwell Avenue in May of 2017, while work on Adams Street in East Milton Square will occur during the summer months when traffic is at its lowest annual volume.

Wendell Park Tree Filter Boxes

The Town of Milton recently received a Section 319 Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to install stormwater BMPs along Wendell Park to clean surface runoff before it is discharged to Pine Tree Brook.  This project is expected to begin in 2017.  Please check back for more information as it becomes available.

Sewer I/I

This year, the Engineering Department will be overseeing design and constrcution of "Year 12" Town's capital improvements plan for sewer inflow and infiltration (I/I) reduction. Sewer pipes and manholes in the following locations will be cleaned, inspected and lined and sealed as necessary to prevent groundwater infiltration into the sewer system. It is crucial to eliminate clean groundwater from flowing into the sewer system, as it increases the volume of waste water being conveyed to the MWRA for treatment, thus driving up costs to the Town.
