SELECTMEN’S MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2008 6:45 P.M.
In attendance: Marion V. McEttrick, Kathryn A. Fagan, John M. Shields, Kevin J. Mearn, Town Administrator, Paula Rizzi, Executive Secretary
Mrs. McEttrick convened a meeting of the Board of Selectmen at 6:45 p.m.
Kathryn A. Fagan moved, John M. Shields seconded and the Board voted unanimously with Marion V. McEttrick voting yes, Kathryn A. Fagan voting yes and John M. Shields voting yes to enter Executive Session for the purpose of discussing litigation and collective bargaining and to return to Open Session to discuss budget issues.
The Board returned to Open Session at 8:05 p.m. along with members of the School Committee (Beirne Lovely, Glenn Pavlicek, Mary Kelly, Lynda Lee Sheridan) and Assistant Superintendent Mary Gormley to discuss future budget strategy. Discussed were the override process and the feasibility of a three year override. The Board will make a decision on this issue when it has more information. The School Committee agreed to send the Board its figures so that the Board can make a decision on a three year budget estimate.
Future discussion on budget strategy was deferred to the Board’s meeting on April 17
John M. Shields moved, Kathryn A. Fagan seconded and the Board voted unanimously at 9:00 p.m. to adjourn.
