Disaster Assistance – Extra Yard Waste Collection
Tuesday 09/06/11 – Saturday 09/10/11
In the wake of Hurricane Irene, the Milton DPW will be providing an extra week of yardwaste collection beginning Tuesday, September 6 and ending Saturday, September 10 (All collections will be delayed one day from your normal collection day due to Labor Day). All of the usual yardwaste rules will apply to this collection:
- No Branches more than 4 inches thick or 3 feet long
- Debris must be contained in a paper leaf bag, a barrel clearly marked “yardwaste,” or neatly bundled with biodegradable string
The Yardwaste collection for the week of 09/12/11 through 09/16/11 will still occur as scheduled.

FISCAL YEAR 2012 YARDWASTE SCHEDULE IS SET
The last yardwaste pickup week for Fiscal Year 2011 is still scheduled for June 20-24, 2011.
Yard waste pickups for the new fiscal year (July 2011 through June 2012) have been scheduled. Calendars will be mailed to residents in the coming weeks, but can be previewed HERE.
The 15 collection weeks will be as follows.

- September 12-16, 2011
- September 26-30, 2011
- October 11-15, 2011 (Columbus Day week - all collections delayed 1 day)
- October 24-28, 2011
- November 7-12, 2011 (Veterans Day week - Friday collections delayed to Saturday)
- November 28 - December 2, 2011
- December 12-16, 2011
- January 17-21, 2012 - Christmas Trees and Wreaths Only (MLK Day week - all collections delayed 1 day)
- April 9-13, 2012
- April 23-27, 2012
- May 7-11, 2012
- May 21-25, 2012
- June 4-8, 2012
- June 18-22, 2012
To assure your yard waste is picked up, please follow these simple guidelines:
· Place yard waste in paper leaf bags or in barrels clearly marked ‘yard waste’
· Have out by 7 a.m. on your day of pickup
· Please, no plastic bags!
· No branches more than 4” thick or 3’ in length
COMPOST BINS NOW AVAILABLE
The DPW is once again making compost bins available to Milton Residents at wholesale prices. Residents can purchase an Earth Machines composter for $42 at the Central Business Office at Town Hall. The composters will then be available for pickup at the Milton DPW Yard (629 Randolph Avenue) on the following Thursday. It's that easy!
TOWN HALL VOUCHER SYSTEM
As of April 1, 2008, Town Hall offices no longer accept cash payments for goods and services. This include fees for recycling bins and also materials accepted at the DPW Yard such as waste oil, antifreeze, car batteries, and tires. Residents may still use personal checks.
