LARGE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

LARGE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS...

Mattress & Boxsprings (curbside): Mattresses & boxsprings may be placed curbside on your regular trash/recycling pickup day. Place one trash sticker on each item and have it out by 7 a.m. on your pickup day. Try not to leave items out in the rain as they will get too heavy for Waste Management to take.

Sofas, Chairs, Sleeper Sofas, Bureaus (curbside):
Items weighing more than 40 lbs. and items that are more than 4 feet in length, such as a sofa or a wood bureau, will be collected curbside on your regular trash collection day by placing two (2) $3.00 stickers on each item.  There is a limit of one oversized item per household per week.

Refrigerators, Freezers, Hot Water Heaters, Dryers, Washers, Dishwashing Machines (curbside):
To have items picked up curbside that are made of steel/metal/iron such as washers, dryers, refrigerators**, hot water heaters, metal file cabinets and desks, a resident must purchase a special $30 large item sticker at the Central Business Office at Town Hall (617-898-4878) during regular business hours. Residents must purchase their $30 stickers by noon Tuesday, then call Waste Management Customer Service (800-972-4545)  for a Wednesday pickup.

Metal Items May Also Be Brought to DPW Recycling Center:

Appliances and other steel, metal or iron goods may be taken to the Milton Recycling Center.  The Center is located at 629 Randolph Avenue and is open the first Saturday of every month (hours are 9 a.m. - 12 noon).

There is a $9 fee charge for refrigerators**, air conditioners and dehumidifiers.   Please place 3 $3 stickers on each item before you bring them to the Recycling Center.

The Recycling Center does not accept furniture (other than metal desks and file cabinets).

Personal checks or cash are no longer accepted at the Recycling Center. All payments must be made with trash stickers.

**Please remember to remove the doors from your discarded refrigerator before you place it on the street or bring it to the Recycling Center.  Removal of refrigerator doors is mandated by the State to prevent children from playing with the appliance and inadvertently getting locked inside.
