The Inspectional Services Department oversees the administration and enforcement of The Massachusetts State Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Fuel Gas Codes as they relate to construction, alteration, additions, repair, maintenance, (fire) safety and demolition of/ to privately owned and municipal structures within the Town of Milton.
We also administer and enforce the Milton Zoning Bylaws as they relate to structures and the use of land and property.
Through proper administration and enforcement of these regulations, it is the goal of the Department of Inspectional Services to promote public safety and the protection of property values in Milton. To this end, we are committed to provide fair and consistent service to the public.
The Sealer of Weights and Measures is also a division of the Inspectional Services Department. All commercial devices within the Town used to weigh or measure goods or services sold to the public are inspected for accuracy at regular intervals.
