RECYCLING CENTER EXPANDS COLLECTION

RECYCLING CENTER TO ACCEPT CD’S AND DVD’S

Starting Saturday, September 2, 2006, in addition to books Milton residents will be able to recycle CDs, comic books, DVDs, computer software, vinyl records, books, and video games at the Milton Recycling Center at 629 Randolph Avenue. This will be in addition to the hard and soft cover books already being collected in the Surplus Books for Charity book bin at the Recycling Center.

Anything that is brought to the book bin must be in cartons with either 4 flaps or a lid.  This makes processing the tons of material that residents bring in much easier to identify and process.

Please remember that moldy or mildewed items cannot be reused and should be thrown out in the trash. Also, magazines are not accepted at the Recycling Center and should be recycled curbside with other paper items.

The Recycling Center is open 9 a.m. - noon on the first Saturday of each month only.

All the book bin items are recycled by Hands Across the Water, a non-profit organization that was recently honored by the American Library Association for the assistance they provided to the New Orleans Public Library in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The DPW thanks all Milton residents who have already donated books to this worthy organization.
