Have you ever thought of starting a neighborhood association or joining an existing one?
Neighborhood associations help maintain the cleanliness and safety of a local area, increasing a resident’s sense of community. Associations provide a way for neighbors to advance or hinder decisions that impact the quality of life in their neighborhoods. (Town officials and political candidates rarely turn down an invitation to attend a neighborhood association meeting!) Each neighborhood association is unique; the members decide how often to meet, what are the priorities for action, and what personal commitment is needed (this is usually minimal). The Town currently has ‘official’ neighborhood associations for Columbine Cliffs, Hillside Street, Milton Hill, Pine Tree Brook, and Railway Village. New associations in other areas would be most welcome. Members from current neighborhood
groups would be happy to share their experiences regarding start-up.
