If you'd like to have a washing machine, refrigerator, freezer, dryer, hot water heater, or dishwasher picked up curbside, you must come to Town Hall (Central Business Office, Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.) to purchase a $30 sticker for each item you'd like picked up. Pickups are on Wednesdays and all $30 stickers must be purchased by noon the Tuesday before the day of pickup. Once residents have a sticker, they can then call Waste Management directly to arrange for the pickup.
With the exception of freon-containing items such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and humidifiers, appliances or "white goods" may also be dropped off for free at the DPW Recycling Center, which is open from 9-noon the first Saturday of each month. The freon-bearing items require 3 $3 stickers, as do humidifiers and air conditioners, even if they are brought to the Recycling Center. (Refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed prior to drop-off.)
Milton residents can also arrange for a curbside pickup of large pieces of exercise equipment (i.e., exercise bikes, treadmills, Nordic track machines). The charge is $30 per item and stickers can be purchased at Town Hall as mentioned above. Tall basketball hoop stands need to be broken down into separate pieces for pickup: the pole needs to be cut into 3 ft. segments, with the backstand and hoop removed, as well as the bottom piece.
